Clinical Trials
Clinical trials help scientists better understand disease and develop new medications, treatments, and devices. The clinical research division at Urologic Consultants of Southeastern Pennsylvania, led by Dr. Belkoff, provides our patients with the opportunity to participate in this type of research, which offers the following benefits:
- · The study drug or treatment may be provided at no charge to patients
- · Study lab tests and procedures may be provided at no charge to patients
- · Patients may have the opportunity to try a new therapy before it is available to the general public
- · Participants help the scientific community gain important information about a health condition, medication, or treatment that may benefit them and others in the future
How To Enroll
Each study is designed to answer specific questions about the study drug or treatment, so strict entrance guidelines are present for each clinical trial. To be eligible to participate in a study, you must meet the criteria specified by the study protocol. The entrance criteria vary for each study, but generally include medical history, the disease under study, medications, age, medical test results, and other factors. If you are interested in participating in a study, you can obtain an enrollment form from the front desk or have it faxed to you. Complete the form and return it in person, by mail, or fax.
You will be notified about 2 to 3 weeks after your submission if you have been accepted as a study participant. Once accepted you will:
- · Meet with the clinical trial staff
- · Complete a detailed questionnaire related to the study
- · Review and sign informed consent paperwork
- · Undergo a physical examination, blood work, and possibly an electrocardiogram
Once you are enrolled as a study participant, our clinical trial staff updates your primary care physician through constant open communication.
